VHT Special 6 Head and Cab vs Fender Deluxe 90 DSP

This is my latest demonstration video of my VHT Special 6 Head and 12-inch speaker Cab combination.  I am playing blues with a Backtrack I put together using Garage Band on my Macbook Pro.  The guitar is my Fender Deluxe Lone Star Stratocaster.  Check out the rich sounds from this low watt pure tube amp.  There are no pedals-- my guitar is plugged straight in.  I could have turned it up louder-- the guitar volume was on 4 out of 10.  There is still some breakup (tube distortion), which is what I am trying to achieve without distortion pedal or other sources.

Next, listen to the same blues riffs with backing tracks played on my strat this time through a solid state amp.  In a previous posting I talked about the settings I used with my humbucker pickup to get a blues tube-like sound.  This is the video I promised to demonstrate that.  I have the distortion drive switch on, with reverb turned on also.  Check out this cool tone for a solid state amp.  Very nice sound.

Which do your ears prefer, the more natural tube quality of the VHT, or the DSP effects of the Fender Solid State?  There is no right or wrong answer.  I enjoy both, for different reasons.  -- Guitar Man
